Comments from David about himself:

... I have had telescope(s) for about 10 years. I have only become serious in the last 18 Months or so when I got my Sphinx mount, VC200L and joined ASM (Astronomical Society of Melbourne). I have always had an interest in photography, and when looking at S&T mag, realised that the two go together great, and I wanted to be a part of it. I don't do things by halves as you can see with my gear! I would consider myself a very keen observer (my wife calls it obsessive) as I am out most clear moon free nights.

I am looking forward to many nights with the MPAS members, I can see there are a few imaging people with similar interests.... I do enjoy sharing and learning new techniques in the field, and face to face, and try to attend as many astro-camps as possible, however, I always seem to bring the clouds with me!

Public Viewing Nights

Just to let everyone know, public viewing nights are held every first Friday of the month. Clear or cloudy nights the public viewing night goes ahead. Members man a number of telescopes of various sizes and types, and for those nights where the sky is cloudy, extended astronomical presentations are presented in the MPAS Viewing Centre.

So please come along and enjoy our nights sky.
