Clear Skies?

Over the years a number of interesting weather sites have come along, and a selection have been helpful to determine when the next clear skies will be for viewing. The following aides are in no particular order, but have a look and see which you may be interesting to you.

Below are a number of interesting links that can be included when making your next assessment:

Weather.com.au - Mount Martha:
This site provides an accurate short-term "Detail Forecast" for the MPAS viewing area (or your area, say Heathcote, just check the list):

SkippySky:
A visual cloud outlook, providing +120 hours of outlook for the total of Australia, or various segments of Australia depending on your location, south-east Australia below:


Air Force Weather:
Air Force weather forces, as part of the Joint team, deliver accurate, relevant, and timely environmental information, products, and services, anywhere in the world. They directly impact decision superiority by enhancing predictive battlespace awareness and enabling commanders at all levels to anticipate and exploit the battlespace environment, from the mud to the sun.

Mornington Yacht Club Web Cam:
Weather and Camera Systems located at Mornington Yacht Club Schnapper Point Drive, Mornington, Victoria. Comprehensive weather station, including 3 web camera views of the bay and area. Excellent for gauging the actual weather conditions for the MPAS viewing site:

Snow Forecast:
Provides a visual cloud outlook for 3 days to non-subscribers, and a long range outlook for subscribers up to 6 days:

Excellent controllable Web Camera of the Warrnambool area providing a number of hours warning of weather approaching the Melbourne region:

Public Viewing Nights 

Just to let everyone know, public viewing nights are held every first Friday of the month. Clear or cloudy nights the public viewing night goes ahead. Members man a number of telescopes of various sizes and types, and for those nights where the sky is cloudy, extended astronomical presentations are presented in the MPAS Viewing Centre.

So please come along and enjoy our nights sky.
