MPAS Meeting February 2025

Society monthly meeting recorded on 20250219 at The Briars Mount Martha Observatory.

Meeting introduction was by the President, Dr. Peter Skilton.

Vice President, Chris Kostokanellis, presented the Astrophotographic challenge for the month, and Committee member, Dr. Guido Tack, then presented the Sky for the Month, including about the small asteroid, 2024YR4, announced in the media to have an increasing probability of impacting Earth in 2032.

The main topic was “A Century of Relativity: from the Big Bang to Black Holes to Interstellar”, by Feynmann Prof. Emeritus Kip Thorne, Theoretical Physicist, California Institute of Technology, USA. This public talk was from 22-Oct-2015 and is courtesy of the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy at Monash University, Australia.
