Society monthly meeting recorded on 20260617 at The Briars Mount Martha Observatory.
Meeting introduction was by the President, Dr. Peter Skilton. Then the Astrophotographic challenge this month was presented by Vice-President, Chris Kostokanellis. Committee member, Dr. Guido Tack, presented the Sky for the Month upon his return from overseas.
The main topic was a public lecture about “Astronomy By Microscope”, presented by Prof. Monica Grady, Planetary and Space Sciences, Open University, UK, on 06-Mar-2023, courtesy of The Royal Society, London. She was also a leading scientist in the European Rosetta mission that landed on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
An educational science video then followed: “What Does Space Smell Like?” , presented by Marina Barcenilla, astrobiologist, perfumer and science communicator, courtesy of The Royal Society, London on 03-Oct-2023. Hosted by Roma Agrawal.
A musical closure followed, showing “A Decade Of Highlights From The Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory”. A mission to rescue the falling Swift Observatory is due for launch later in June.
