MPAS Meeting June 2025

Society monthly meeting recorded on 20250618 at The Briars Mount Martha Observatory.

Meeting introduction was by the President, Dr. Peter Skilton.

Vice President, Chris Kostokanellis, then presented the Astrophotographic challenge for the month, followed by Committee member, Dr. Guido Tack, presenting the Sky for the Month.

The main topic was “Touching the Sun”, by Prof. Chris Lintott, Astronomer at Gresham College, London. This talk was from 15-Jan-2025 and is courtesy of Gresham College, London, and recorded at Conway Hall.

A science video on the subject of “How Do We Know How Long The Sun Has Left To Live?” was then presented by Dr.Becky Smethurst, Astrophysicist and RAS Research Fellow at Oxford University, courtesy of her Dr. Becky YouTube channel.

This was followed by “How ESA Solar Orbiter and NASA Parker Solar Probe Work Together”, courtesy of Michigan Engineering YouTube channel, 29-Jan-2020 (University of Michigan).
