In addition to the monthly Public Stargazing Nights, MPAS offers members and the public many opportunities to participate in viewing the night sky. These include:
Point Leo Field Trip – 21st March 2021
After being rescheduled many times during the past 12 months, our Point Leo Field Trip is finally proceeding! Geologist Mike Cleeland will be leading a walk around the coastline at Point Leo, looking particularly at the well exposed structures in the volcanic lava. The area also has a history of discovery of gemstones, so try your luck at finding rubies or sapphires or even fossils.
Update: the Point Leo event is now fully booked. The event has been registered as a COVIDSafe public event.
Lunar Eclipse viewing – 26th May 2021
Come to the Frankston foreshore to view the total lunar eclipse! This is a gold coin donation event, no bookings required. More details will follow soon.
Astrophotography Workshop – 11th September 2021
This will return in 2021 with a new format. We will provide more details soon, but you can already put the date in your calendar. Bookings will be required. Stay tuned!
Telescope Learning Day – 23rd October 2021
